The result of bored stiff engineers asking "How big a jet engine can you strap to your
ass?"
No market research, no feasibility studies, no industry partnerships, no government
handout, no union deals. Just one criteria - "Build the darn thing." And don't let
management know! Make it small and make it ridiculously fast.
This is the "Bombardier" HD - 1 Swift Experimental Jet for Microsoft Flight Simulator
2004.
Designed for personal transportation, with just enough room for your briefcase, your
MasterCard, and maybe - lip gloss. Capable of supersonic high altitude performance, this
aircraft shines laying down a sonic boom at tree top level! Break all the rules...

-------------------------

The above is the narrative on the web site, but, what is this aircraft all about?
OK - it's not about pretending to be an airline pilot or a fighter jockey. As an actual
airline pilot, it's dam frustrating to for example fly across the Canadian Rocky
Mountains, see something cool up some valley, and not be able to get off the darn airway
because there are passengers, ATC, management, and flight attendants all watching the
clock, while your First Officer is watching the fuel. Flying is supposed to be about
freedom, but homeland security is watching for excursions from the routing and ready to
scramble fighter aircraft interceptors if you wonder too far. This used to be fun when I was
17, flying gliders on the weekend.
So... this aircraft is designed for blasting up some fiord in Norway, crossing a high level
plateau in the Andies, landing on an ice flow in the Canadian Artic, exploring the
Caribbean Islands, checking out all the Great Lakes around the world, or the tallest
mountains on each continent, or laying down a dual red smoke trail across a random city
up-side-down and just above the roofs of the buildings all while above the speed of sound.
At Mach 1.8, this aircraft will take you across Europe in no time.
Just set the simulation to ignore fuel quantity. Select the auto pilot on, go for dinner,
come back after a few hours of letting the aircraft fly somewhere, deselect the Auto-Jock,
push the nose down towards terra firma, and go explore the virtual globe.
Have fun!! :)

So.

Installing the HD 1 Swift
---------------------------------
This is a zip file with all the directories captured in the archive, meaning that WinZip will
put all the files in the right place if you follow these instructions below.
Select all the files and click the [Extract] button. A new window will open.
In the field labelled, [Extract To:] Click the drive that your Programs files are in.
In the field labelled, [Directories/Drives:] select the c:\
Click the check box labelled [Use Directory Names]
Click the [Extract button]
That's it, done. Load Microsoft Flight Sim and the aircraft is in the Manufactures list
under Bombardier (because "they" supposedly made it on the sly in a back tool shed
during lunch breaks.)

HD 1 Swift model, animation, cockpit, flight dynamics, and virtual cockpit e.t.c. all
produced by myself.
Please keep in mind that this is my first virtual aircraft, there is a steep leaning curve to
the 3D software, the Flight Dynamics, the Texture Mapping, the Repaints, and the
instrumentation. So although this aircraft is a work in progress, I've jumped the gun a
little releasing it because it is already a panic to fly. The virtual cockpit is just getting
underway and is missing a few switches one may expect to see (so you may have to look up a few
hot keys. So "stand by".
The thrust ratio is manic, and the roll rate verges on insane. If you loss control, just grab
your control hand with your free hand and lock the control movements until the aircraft settles
down. Just remember to breath. If you want "easy to fly" go download a Cessna 150 or a 747.
I will be posting up dated releases of this aircraft on my web site as I make improvements
or complete another aspect of the model.
